‘Tales from Around the World’ Book Club!

Wouldn’t it be nice to read and fall in love with a book, and then have someone to talk about it with! The specific things that made you laugh or cry, the stories that inspired you in someway or that you identified parts of your life with.

Well, I think it would – and so I have decided to start an online book club, and I would love for you to join me!

This is a book club with a twist though. In keeping with my love and passion for travels, I want us to choose books with stories that are based from around the world. It can be anything from a documentary based book, Long Way Round‘ – Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman for example, to a fictional story based in a foreign land, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin‘ – Louis De Bernieres for instance. So the limits are broad.

I thought that I would choose the first book, and as I have recently just come back from a trip to Tuscany – what would be more perfect than this book that I have heard lots of wonderful reviews on but have yet to read:

Under the Tuscan Sun‘ by Frances Mayes.

It’s a true story based around a young woman who’s love for restoring old and beautiful houses brought her to Tuscany.

So, If anybody would like to join me whilst I read this that would be amazing – and then we can discuss it next month. I’m currently still away in Kenya at the moment so I won’t be able to pick up a copy of the book until I’m home next week, so that should give me enough time to read it.

I’m so excited about this and I can’t wait to get your thoughts and views on the book and even the book club itself. I will start a new page on my blog and once I’ve read each book I will write up an account of my own personal thoughts on them.
